The history of the Compagnia di San Paolo has its roots in 16th-century Turin, when on 25 January seven citizens of the town founded the confraternity they named ‘Compagnia della Fede’ dedicated to St Paul and has continued down to the present day.

The Fondazione 1563 per l’Arte e la Cultura della Compagnia di San Paolo has sponsored or published on its own account the following books on the history of the Compagnia:

  • La Compagnia di San Paolo, edited by Walter Barberis and Anna Cantaluppi (Einaudi)
  • L’Archivio Storico della Compagnia di San Paolo, edited by Anna Cantaluppi.

In addition, it is responsible for the publication of the Quaderni dell’Archivio Storico della Compagnia di San Paolo, a monographic series of archive studies, with a special focus on the sources, both documentary and bibliographical, on the history of the Compagnia.
